How to scuba dive in Thailand by S

"Diving in Thailand means excellent temperature in the water and lots of cool things to see."

How I did it: Me and my boyfriend went on a three week trip to Thailand. We stayed at Koh Tao for the easy diving, and also took the Advanced Open Water course. At Koh Chang we did some other dives. The biggest difference between the diving at the two islands, was that we were about 30 divers on the boat at Koh Tao, and 8 divers on Koh Chang!

Lessons & tips: Koh Tao is pretty crowded, Koh Chang is more private. I liked both.

Resources: A divers computer is great to have, I think.

    Now officially ready for my first serious dive. Exploring options.

    Around Christmas 2005 I went one a 3 day/4 night dive trip to the Similan Islands. It was incredible! I was surprised to see the reefs in such good shape after the tsunami. I’d read that they were okay, but didn’t quite believe it until I saw them for myself.

    I went with a dive company called Santana, and would definitely use them again.

    The rest of my trip in Thailand was quite nice too! Just looking at my photos from the trip makes me want to go back. Maybe next Christmas…

    It was my first scuba experience – I took the Padi Open Water and Advanced Open Water. Since I live pretty much as far away from an ocean as one could possibly get it was like being on a totally different planet. I highly recommend Siam Divers on Ko Tao.
