just when I was giving up hope... 5 months ago

I put on a pair of skinny jeans yesterday that I had not worn in a while. I am an hourglass/pear shape, so I only wear them occasionally with long tops, or under certain dresses. To my extreme surprise, they fall off of me. I am trying to shrink them in the wash/dryer right now (they are made of a bizare blend of fabric that shrinks when you wash it and ‘grows’ as they are worn. Yah, I’m cheap)

So I decided to dig out another pair of skinny jeans I had packed away under the bed beacause they where two sizes too small. Guess what? They fit, not even really snug, really fit! Proof that we can’t always trust our own impressions of our selves. I have not been doing cardio much at all, but I think the little bit of daily strength training must be slowly adding up and helping to slim the targeted area. Yay!

Im not going to cross this off my list yet, I still have some tweaking left to do, it may be fall by the time I am happy. However I want to do this the right way, the healthy way. I want to feel good, not just look it. That matters more.

Well after slacking in the exercise department for 3 days, today I decided to trudge down to the basement or as I like to call it ‘the lair’ it sounds more exciting that way. Anyways I went down there to get some dumbbells when I remebered I had a punching bag! I had never gotten to hang it back up after I moved last summer. So Its now dangling from the ceiling in the lair. After struggling with getting the wraps on correctly I worked out for a half hour. I had forgotten how great a cardio work out it is and my arms are going to kill me tomorrow. I may have to purchase a speed bag for variety. This might finally solve my hatred of cardio!

Well today I made good on my promise to do cardio of some sort. I walked the dogs and took my the car to a car show where I walked around the full track a few times plus the usual strength training. Avoided free samples of sugary goodness and the case of diet pop on the porch that is calling my name…

Well I have cut diet cola out of my life (thank you Pepsi, your new ugly 80’s can design helped turn me off of it) for the first time since I was old enough to open a pop can. I’m drinking lots of water, which surprisingly keeps me more awake then my caffine did. I have doubled my reps, hoping to be up to 100 situps a day by the end of the month and starting tomorrow I’m jogging a mile a day.

Not really original, but a goal non-the-less. I just want to get back down to my usual weight before the brief Canadian summer rolls around. Ive kicked my diet coke habit (for two days so far) and am doing crunches, sit-ups, and squats daily, yesterday I took the stairs up 9 floors of an apartment building (granted the elevator was broken) starting tomorrow I want to start jogging/hiking/walking anything that resembles cardio will work.

OMG, when is it gonna warm up outside?! I have no way of getting any exercise and I find myself spending way too much time bored and stuck in the house. I have been using the Bow-Flex and free weights we have in the basement to put on some muscle, but I have no way of getting actual exercise. I really don’t want to pay for a gym membership just to jog on a treadmill, but it’s still cold and snowy outside. Not to mention running around my block has never proven an effect means of exercise… more like an effective means of destroying my bad knees (thanks broken leg from 4th grade!). I just want it to be spring so I can go outside and do something. Hell, going to the beach or mowing the lawn burns calories. I’m not overweight or anything, but I’m really out of shape and I definitely could use to tone up. Hell, I’m 21 and I live near more beaches than anyone in the country. I’d like to start having more energy and I’d like to gain more of an interest in going to the beach. I guess I’ll just pick up the pace with weight lifting cause I’m sick of have sticks for arms and legs.
