I have also taken to the “a place for everything, and everything in its place” line of thought/practice. Living in a small space definitely increases the need to do this.
I’ve found that getting into a routine is helpful too. Being organized does not mean you cannot be spontaneous, I just have to be committed to keeping organized.
For note-taking, I have started using Google Docs and it is working quite well. I create a new doc for each class and just type in whatever notes I am taking, and color code different things. For example, red text means I am making a reference to material found in the text book, and neon green text means I am making a reference to a hand out given in class.
My system of organization seems to be working for me, and while I feel there is still room for improvement (isn’t there always?), I can only hope to achieve and maintain so much.
I feel I am getting close to checking this one off my list, although I will continue to add entries as I stumble upon new tricks that work for me.

Today I cleaned up my bedroom. It is a daily thing. It is definitely my ‘hot spot’. Next I moved to the garage to clean off the top of a storage cabinet. It was all cluttered with stuff. So now I am moving back into the house to clean up some paper files. We’ll see how it goes.

Might as well start working around the apartment today, I seem to go in back and forth keeping up on it then totally slacking off, need to be more consistent.

I’m more than open to ideas if anyone wants to toss some my way!
Ever since my accident, I have had difficulty with my short term memory and its beyond annoying. Because I’m trying to relearn how to make and keep things (my possessions, my assignments, basically anything in my life) organized, I’m open to a lot of things.
What I have tried so far:
file folders labeled with a catch-all term for contents
this works for keeping things like papers, statements, correspondence, etc in order, and because it is all centrally located together, i have not yet lost any of it.
boxes labeled with a catch-all term for contents
this works for keeping things like photos, recipes, craft supplies, and other small things organized. i keep my boxes on a shelf so they do not get lost.
dry erase board on the living room wall
this works for writing my to-do lists on, and because i walk by it a million times a day, i see it and remember to actually do the items
keeping my keys on a magnetic hook next to the front door
this works by keeping my keys in one place so i am never scrambling to find them at the last minute
That’s all i can think of that i have currently implemented. What do you have for me as far as organizational tricks or techniques go?

Been cleaning and de-cluttering. Talk about getting organized. It looks like it’s gonna be way easier once I get rid of the clutter. No wonder I have a hard time getting organized. I was spending way too much time trying to organize clutter-stuff I didn’t need to keep anyway.

So I have made the decision to put all my pictures on to a USB stick. Not so much to get rid of the hard copies of the pictures, but as a back up in case something unfortunate, like a house fire, were to happen. It’s gonna be a huge project.
