My beautiful teacher (aka my girlfriend) and I started lessons on Wednesday. The lesson was good, but I need a lot of practice. I really want to move slowly on the lessons, but she wants to jest right along. We are going to have to have a talk about that since jetting right through is the reason I didn’t go to a Korean academy. I seriously hate that method of study, but it is typical for Korean language instruction, so I am afraid I may have to break some bad habits in my teacher.
I have finally found books that I am happy about when it comes to improving my Korean. I already had several good books for vocabulary and grammar, but a clear cut direction for study was lacking. Earlier this week I found three new textbooks that I think will work well for me.
Book One is a good Korean text books with grammar and dialogs. I like it because it doesn’t have the English right next to the text. It is available, but way in the back of the book.
Book Two is a book of Korean idioms worked into stories that will outline their meaning. I am excited about improving my ise of idiomatic Korean.
Book Three is a book to study Korea through cultural exploration. It talks about Korean foods, customs, and culture. It is a neat way to study Korean while gaining insight into key aspects of Korean life.
All in all, three very worthwhile books.
My beautiful girlfriend has been researching classes for me to take to improve my Korean skill. I am supposed to watch a demo class later this week for one of the schools (maybe both). I am glad to get back into this. I thing I have improved greatly from a couple years ago by just being back in Korea, but taking a class should really help move things along.
