A few weeks ago I got a job at Chili’s with my friends Jen and Katie. It’s 10 times better than cracker barrel and I wear jeans and black shirt to worrk. It’s a fun place and Chili’s food isn’t that bad at all. The money should be better and I work everyday I don’t have class so i’ll get used to the menu fast. New and better jobs are great.

I got a job at Cracker Barrel on 19 as a server. It’s opening at the end of the month. I’ve never served, but I’m excited for the money and the change. A lot of people I know got jobs there too. My training starts in a few days, and I can’t find uniform pants small enough :(

entry on this, is true you do see the otherside and think twice about complaining as you realise that generally the waitress/waiter has no connection to the food and service you recieve they’re just working under the conditions set by the workplace and generally get all the flack as they’re the ‘face’ of the estableshment, but they’ve got none of the knowledge or power (generally just following orders and have no idea whats going on.) Also makes you a better tipper and more considerate. I find that generally rich ppl don’t tip (this is england so you don’ have to) whereas people who might have worked in your position or will know someone who has, basically middle-working classes will as they understand that its hard work.

Can I help you, sir? 3 years ago

Have done this for a while randomly, working at racecourses and concerts, all very random what you end up doing, working on a bar, plate-waiting, working in a box, stocktaking (not fun) and general dogsbody. There are so many different companies out there and some pay amazingly well, when I get back to London gonna try and get booked with the high paying type company.

This was a good experience for me since it helped me get over my shyness.

if you’re good at waitressing, go for it. i’m going to leave it up to the professionals.

My mother always told me I’d be a horrible waitress.
So I went and worked in customer service for 5 years. I then decided to try selling houses as a real estate agent. I had a college degree and couldn’t find a good paying job anywhere.

I started waitressing. I couldn’t believe it. I was making money. And it was easy. People wanted extra napkins. Their steak turned out wrong. After working those “real jobs” it was so easy to be nice and just take care of your tables!

Yes, you work hard. I worked in 2 crappy restaurants with a crappy staff and crappy tips. Then I found a place that was awesome – and they hired me in two minutes because of my experience in the other places! And I now make more $$$ than my college grad friends! Just to have fun while my “guests” enjoy their beers!

Even if you decide its not for you – everyone should spend at least a week doing it – and you’ll have a whole new outlook everytime you go out for a bite to eat!

There’s not anything really good about working as a waitress.

You regularly get abused by rude customers.
You get treated like dirt by the chefs.
You get paid crap wages.
You work crap hours.
You come home exhausted and smelling manky.

I wouldn’t do this again unless I had to!
