How to go to batanes by avlack

"It changed the way I see Philippines. My complex love and hate relationship with my own country snapped into liking. Breath taking views, warm people, clean air and simple living."

How I did it: I was lucky enough to get invited by a friend who's a co-group in a photo club & also working in a local newspaper. We joined their group for a Travel review. We we're tasked to take photographs of Batanes that were featured in their Travel section. The photos and review we did are also a supplement part of the movie called "Batanes".

Lessons & tips:

  • It's hard to book a flight going to Batanes so be sure to book and secure everything ahead of time before hopping in. 
  • Better yet go to "asian spirit travel" and let them help you arrange your lodging and itenerary.
  • Also, Arrange a tourist guide with a rented vehicle and planned itenerary. You can do your own roaming once you get yourself familiar in the place. 
  • Register and notify the baranggay where you're going to stay in. Just for security in case you got lost or missed your flight.
  • Better to bring your own snacks, food and lodging in Batanes are pretty expensive
  • People in Batanes are kind-hearted warm. Be sure to leave your bad manners and conduct at the frat house.
  • Don't forget to bring mosquito repellant
  • Try all their selection of local featured delicacies. Don't mind the price, key is to get a taste and experience. 
  • Don't go & travel during Rainy Season.  
  • Wake up early. Everyday. 
  • You'll enjoy a week of stay in Batanes, 3 days is too short for Batanes. 
  •  Don't forget to bring a camera :)

    TOTALLY WORTH DOING.

    Batanes is soooo beautiful, really picturesque place, and the sceneries are just absolutely BREATHTAKING. I enjoyed our trip a lot; the people were really nice, the tour was really fun and worthwhile, and Batanes is just really a great place! I hope I can visit Batanes again sometime in the future. Honestly the best place in the Philippines that I’ve been to so far. =)

    finally went to batanes late october 2005 and stayed a total of 10 days, 7 of them were spent deep sea sportfishing… been all around the philippines and at the time of this writing, batanes rules :)))

    I came fr Batanes 13 yrs ago, embarassing as it may be but i havent been able to return. It’s now one of my priority goal. In fact, i’m planning to go there this May 2006! Yehey, one cheer for me.

    I’ve always wanted to visit these isolated islands at the northern tip of the philippines. I just want a week there and enjoy the untouched wonder. I want to see Songsong ruins, it calls to me. Maybe I can haggle a week’s vacation this Summer (that’s the only time these islands are accessible).

    The northernmost part of the Philippines, Batanes, is such a great place according to some people I met. It’s not accessible, so it would take a lot of effort to convice myself to go. =)

    isolation and nature... 4 years ago

    ever since i was young, i have dreamed of going to this place. i imagined this place to be the perfect place if i want to be isolated from the world and to spend time to think about important things that may have long been drowned by my busy life. i also love the fact that it is very close to nature particularly the ocean. i’m not a water person but i know that waves tell stories that only the soul can decipher so i can’t wait to start hearing the stories and learning from them=)
