Will do it next time 23 months ago

A few days ago, I was in line at the pharmacy and overhead a conversation between a very upset patron and the cashier, who was clearly new. It seems that the pharmacist had filled the prescription incorrectly, and now this shrew wanted a pound of flesh from the cashier.

I had an intense desire to step in and defend the lady at the register, who kept apologizing profusely and asking the customer’s patience until the pharmacist returned to duty. And yet I did nothing. I know it’s not a very significant event for me, but it could have made a big difference to the cashier.

I will not let this happen again.

A few guys that worked with me went to a live taping of a radio show. They had to miss that day of work because it was free beer friday and of course they were drunk so they couldn’t come in. Anyway a week goes by and then they get called into the office. I guess they were going to get chewed out. So I went in and told the manager that I had let them go to the radio show. They had worked 10 hour days and meet the production numbers before they took off. Of course he had nothing to say after that. Well, he did say, I wish I had someone to go up to bat for me like that. It made my day. And I won the respect of those guys.
