dbubturner is trying to write an essay for history 213...ugh
Sometimes its just so hard for me to actually sit down and read the Bible. I open it up, and my mind goes a thousand other places. I have trouble focusing on what im reading. Its really bad. Anyways, I want to read my Bible every day. To be honest..i haven’t read my Bible in about 3 weeks…
Reading the Bible keeps me grounded. And I NEED to read it every day.

Well I just started going to church, another goal of mine, and reading the bible seems to just come hand in hand with it. Sabbath school involves weekly bible study, and it makes it so much easier working towards a reading goal every week rather than trying to read the bible all by myself.

Wow…I can’t believe it’s been a year since i’ve printed off that reading plan and I have yet to complete it. I know it’s only 61 days but I keep starting on and off with reading. But i’ve started again recently and i’m at day 7…which is very far, cuz they put quite a lot of reading into one day. So I end up reading all of the scriptures for one day over a series of days. Guess this plan will take longer than 61 days. But i’m gettin there.

turtletortoise is breathing deep. For there is nought else to be done . . .
clicking “Give up” for this goal. In a conversation with a dear friend I had a couple days ago, she asked me if I had a devotional or something from which to read from. My answer was that I was trying to follow the “read your Bible from Gen. to Rev. in 36 months” plan. Her advice to me was spiritually sound and I understand it. It’s comforting. She said that I need to just be asking God to walk with me, bring me peace and show me the path through these storms, instead of bombarding myself with this ginormous task. It’s not a failure, just a better plan for me in these next life moments.

Well, I went to a website that has different plans for reading the bible. I selected the one I thought I would most likely want to do and it’s supposed to take 61 days total. I just need to pick a good day to start and really get into it.

But am replacing “read my bible” with “read through the bible”, “memorize the bible” and “study the bible”.

Spring Break I read a lot, everyday, and sometimes more than once a day. It was great. I’m making index cards with some of my favorite verses now. I’m excited about the Bible. It’s so beautifully written and emotionally charged.

I am doing a free online certified Bible Study. I am hoping this will help me, but it is not meat and potatoes. I’ve got a lot of educaiton already in Biblical Studies, but I am trying to keep my brain and heart active. Something is better than nothing?
