I rarely learn new songs, and I’m not really good at the old ones. I want to extend my repertory and play better.
You can watch me playing if you want. http://www.izlesene.com/video/muzik-godfather/1021426 But before writing comments, please note that i’m aware of the out-of-tune voices. :) But i don’t have enough money to fix my piano now.

ontheradio watched Into The Wild and is having second thoughts...
I suck at the piano. But I love it so much, I just really want to get better.

Dad let us have the electric keyboard, and once we got a working converter I’m playing around with it again.
Hopefully enough goofing off will lead to actual improvement.

It’s been a long time and so much has happened! I’m getting better on reading, I’m learning lots of theory and I’m really improving. I think that I am going to achieve my goal of playing the piano better on February, 2009. It’s only 7 months now! I’ve got a new teacher and I’m studying hard. I am also very happy and this is what is more important.

Breaking my finger has made me realize how much piano means to me.
When I get better, I promise I’ll play like I should’ve been playing for so many years.

My plan is still working. Since I’ve stoped procrastinating I have been another person! I’m reading more, playing more and I don’t feel depressed anymore.

In order to complete my chalenge I’ve taken the most strange decision:I’ll wake up in the morning and do everything I like/want to: read, exercise, play the piano, write. I’ll clean my house at night, when my husband goes to the gym. Today was the first of this plan and it worked very well. I realized that after finishing the housework I’m too tired to play, but after doing everything I like I still have enthusiasm left to clean the house… After that I can have dinner and sleep peacefully. If this works, I think that I can study three hours a day, at least, and will be playing a lot better next year.

I want to be a musician – doesn’t matter when or how. Wheter it’s playing the piano or the violin or anything else, I want to be a musician. I think this is going to happen – all I must do is to be patient and keep studying. But the fact is: I’m so in love with the piano that I suffer terribly! My dream is to be a piano teacher, at least, but it takes so much time for me to learn and with all the pressure I put on myself about this, it gets worse.
I would like to hear from other people that started to learn as an adult and how you cope with the difficulties of studying.

I started taking lessons when I was 7 years old, but I quit around age 9. I think I progressed WAY faster on my own then I did in a class. The first song I ever played by ear was “Fur Elise” when I was 6…I still play it from time to time. I think my favorite song to play is “Teenagers” by MCR because it’s hard and it sounds so cool, I’m a butthead thugh because I learned the right hand part on my left hand, and now I’ve got it down pat. So maybe I’ll play the bass with my right and the melody with the left…That’ll be different, huh?
