My husband and I went to Savannah, Georgia. We absolutely loved the historic district. Everyone there was very friendly. We did all the typical tourist things such as a trolley tour of the city, the river cruise, the Hearse Ghost Tour, and we walked the entire city visiting all the squares and the prominent cemeteries. We ate at Paula Deen’s restaurant, went to Back In The Day Bakery, ate pralines down by the river….everything we did was fun. We went the first week of November, and it was nice because there weren’t many tourists and very few children were around (that made it even better). Thanks, City of Savannah, for your hospitality!

i am bamboozled why there is only six people who want to do this? i live in atlanta and have been here quite a few times, it’s amazing!! the ghost tours in the retired hearses are pretty fun and they make bar stops! of course you gotta go to tybee it’s a very short drive and a really nice, peaceful beach. viva savannah! the trees are beautiful.

I’m heading down to Savannah with my Girl Scout troop in one week from today! (yes, I’m still in GS, don’t laugh!) See, the founder of Girl Scouts, Juilette Gordon Low, was born in Savannah, Georgia and it it a HUGE thing for Girl Scouts to go down and see her birthplace. We’re in high school, so my troop and I have spent years saving up for this! We’re also going on one of the infamous Ghost Tours and eating dinner at a Pirate House! I’m so excited! I can’t wait!

Is awesome and I want to live there! What a great place! Why doesn’t everyone want to live there? I don’t understand why there isn’t a mass exodus. It is so beautiful!

I just finished reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (highly recommendable, ps) and now I want nothing more than to go stroll the streets of Savannah in springtime. Sit in the park and braid bits of spanish moss. Have a drink at Sweet Georgia Brown’s. Take grave rubbings at Bonadventure Cemetary. And all that jazz.
I think I may just go check out amtrak for fares to Georgia….

A beautiful city – I’ve traveled extensively in my life – this place is INCREDIBLE – I had the good fortune of having friends who are locals, so I was lucky to have the “inside scoop”! I am seriously considering relocating to here in the future…it’s that good!

Its hard to decide which tour to take…we started off with the mistake of taking a walking tour after getting badly sunburned. Did not work out well. You HAVE to eat at The Lady & Sons restaurant. Call to make a reservation first tho, even if you make it for “5 minutes from now” b/c they take reserved seatings first and sometimes the line goes around the block. Its a Southern all you can eat deal. Owned by Paula Deen who has her own Food Network show. Trek out to see the cemetary even though its quite a drive from Savannah proper. It statuary is definately worth it. And do cross the bridge to Tybee Island…I honestly believe its the best beach in the world! Private and quiet and beautiful.
