i could barely make it through this. almost threw up twice it’s so horrific—part of the reason i never rented it before. but, it was on TV, and i felt like it was time i finally watch. of course, it’s a film documenting the heroicism of this beautiful man whose spirit and goodwill saved over 1,000, but importantly, this is not a film that attaches the viewer to characters in such a way that in watching the “good people” survive you can forget about the atrocity of this genocide. in fact, it’s exactly the opposite: this film leaves us disgusted by our capacity to hate, kill, and most egregiously, look the other way (as this country did and still does) while people in the world who we could help, but choose not to, suffer. it is infuriating. for this reason, hotel rwanda should be required viewing for all. i am only upset that i waited this long before seeing it.
inspiring. i watched this yesterday. the human spirit is an amazing thing, and even though i’m not an athlete, this is a film that helps anyone appreciate the importance/power of athletics in people’s lives.
I didn’t love this, but I watched it last night while I was grading, which felt more productive than having some sitcom on…
Had to watch it because of that Sex and the City Episode. “She’s lovely, Hubble …” Even with the 70’s cheese factor I loved …
