I want to be able to sew some of my own clothes. I always have an idea of what I am looking for but can never find it or it costs the Earth. I want to make it!

"Best thing i have ever done in my life. Had thought myself the basics but was missing practical experience. so when back to college and got an evening job in a theatre. after a year everything fell into place and been working in theatre ever since."
How I did it: Working in a theatre environment and went back to college....Got practical experience on the job and the college course linked everything together. Took awhile so if your planning to do it and do it well you must spend hours with your machine until the item your making is perfect. Picture it in your mind, be inside the construction. Winifred aldrich book is the best thing to guide yah and a good teacher.
Lessons & tips: Go to college or work your way up.....but determination will get yah there in the end.

I liked my basic class so much that I took a second on making a lined tote bag. Results:
Now I’m all kinds of inspired. Next stop: get my machine serviced and get going!

I grew up with a sewing maniac mother who is more than willing to show me the ins and outs of sewing. Nevertheless, the best I can do is hem pants, sew curtains, and maaaaybe make a little drawstring pouch. How cool would it be to sew my own clothes?

One of my friends is teaching knitting classes at a new studio called Sew Crafty Houston. The owner teaches the sewing part, and she has a ton of basic classes. I’m taking my first one next week and I can’t wait!
