I’ve been really slow on this since I have major views on responsibility on, well most anything.
First – wanting several different types to test to figure out what works for me
Two – several people I know have some which makes me not put pressure on any need for me.
Three – Need in securing it. Have several people who have very nice gun safes but this would be then their responsibility not mine, so if I’m work traveling I don’t like the shift of responsibility
Four – my travel restricts where and when I could travel responsibly with one
Five – well I’m stopping because the timer just went off and my dinner is ready and I’m very eager to eat a good hot meal today.

How I did it: I took two classes that covered everything from firearms safety to the legalities of carrying, which included hands-on training and a proficiency test. I applied for a Permit to Carry, waited about a month, and that permit also served as a permit to purchase. From the classes, I knew exactly what handgun I felt would be best, and then I went to the store and range, chose a gun, shot a few rounds through it and bought it.  … Read how I did it…

celeste_hope is living life!
After having someone attempt to kick in your back door when you’re home… After having someone break into your house when you’re at work and steal your jewelry… When you live in a somewhat rough neighborhood… When you shoot a gun and like it… When you’re female, 5’1” and 95-100lbs…
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a nut case but I think one should learn about handling guns even if one does not believe in hunting or killing. Learning how to handle a gun is like learning how to handle a car. Responsibility of power in one form or another is knowing the possiblities and the limitations and the general danger involved. On the car side of the issue, my sister was rolled in a vehicle and placed in a coma for three months before she died. Later, they placed a traffic light at the intersection where her accident happened. I also ride a motorcycle and that brings up more thoughts but I stick to the gun issue.
Now the ownership of the gun is not so much a NRA thing as much as a way of forcing me to take on responsibility of learning how to handle power. I don’t want to go out to a gun range once or twice and then lose interest or be lulled into thinking “yeah, that was no sweat” Also I’ll be moving into a situation of having to take care of some property far from any town and at long stretches of time.
This is also where some good cooking tips will come in handy.
The property already has a gun safe so I’ll be able to leave it locked up when not present. The safe at present carries a shotgun and rifle so what remains for me is a handgun.
Presently thinking about a compact glock 9mm like the FBI carries.
At present my land lord has mentioned letting me shoot several of his handy arsenal trappings for feel.
Bought myself a Springfield Armory XD 9mm.
Happy birthday to me!
I bought a Mosin Nagant Russian sniper rifle 7×54R as my 1st gun purchase for $100 with shipping and FFL fee.
My 2nd purchase was a Mossberg ATP500 Shutgun for around $200 with shipping and FFL fee.
Steve Dogiakos can't believe another school year has started.
I bought a 9mm Hi-Point. I love it. It only cost me about $130 and the ammo is cheap!
Completely worth it!
in order to get my CCW permit. I also have to be able to shoot consistently with a certain level of accuracy so there will be much practice involved. I think I might wait to get the gun until May when I get the government check from the economic stimulus program. That way my roommate can get one at the same time and we’ll have more time to try different guns. I want to make sure that I get the one that I really want. I’m looking at a Glock 27 40 cal as of right now.
