Been out in New Zealand for over 6 months, so I am going to call this thing done.
Had a good time out here – traveled round most of the country and now set up in Queenstown waiting for the ski season to get underway.

I have info for hiking with a cool eco tour group in N.Z. but I would love to get with a few people to go together.
I began 2 months ago doing a Stray bus trip (http://www.straytravel.co.nz) – and I am currently in Queenstown in a Spaceships (http://www.spaceships.tv) – which is actually a pretty wicked campervan.
However I only intended to stay in NZ for 3 weeks (I’m eating up my Aussie time by staying longer)
I met a great girl on the bus and we decided to see some more of NZ on our own – so here we are.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Great people, scenery, places… feels really safe and set up for backpackers
I’d recommend it (and Stray / space) to anyone
I’ve down four days on the Rees-Dart track on the South Island and loved every bit of it!
I would have been up and around the Cape on the North Island, but my pack was lost for a few days upon arrival.
The NZ environment is absolutely amazing. You can be in a rain forest one minute, then open grass plains, then climbing an alpine saddle. On the North Island you can be on the beach, then into a forest, and then onto a volanco!
This is a beautiful country and the very best way to see it is slipping into the wilderness by yourself or with a small group. Lots of friendly people out there! I was “alone” on the Rees-Dart, but I formed several friendships in the process. Everyone keeps up with everyone else. :)
I can’t wait to get back to it!
