How to dread my hair

How I did it: When I was 15 I begged my mom to help my dread my hair. She spent 8 hours teasing strands with a metal comb, then I had to rub beeswax into the dreads every day and roll them in my palms. How I did it: I think I actually used beeswax for it when I initially made them by myself, but in the later days I had to let a friend remake more or less the whole thing :) in some occasions I had to use small pieces of elastic to keep those things together for a couple of weeks, more or less impossible to do that on yourself - in my case we dreaded each other's head, so it actually was a real fun time. Actually I made them a year ago…. Wauw, I’ve never had dreads for so long before, yay me! They need some love and care, and the boyfriend has agreed to provide it. Then I’ll dye some of them purple :D

i’m working on growing my hair to mid-back and then waist length right now. i still like the idea of dreads but i think i’d rather concentrate on growth for a while. it’s just not the right time, so maybe i’ll do this later.

for quite a while now i have wanted dreadlocks. everyone says that “it would be such a bad idea,” but i think it would be fantastic. i don’t care about what anyone else would think about it…i think it would be awesome. and to do something like that on impulse, and not care what others think, would be even more awesome. =)
