Got to experience the ash and such first hand- saw the plume… awesome sight. I have also visited St. Helens post eruption (in 1982 to look at the trees down like matchsticks) and saw into the crater. The pics on TV did nothing to capture the utter destruction and power of that volcano—being there just blows your mind at just how much was leveled.

mount st helens – washington, usa
oku volcanic field – cameroon
krakatoa – indonesia
kilauea – hawaii: most currently active
surtsey – iceland
mount pinatubo – phillippines
tambora – indonesia
yellowstone – wyoming, usa: most likely to blow next!
mauritius and the galapagos islands seem to have quite a lot too.
id like to see an active one but i want to see a dormant one too so that i can climb right to the edge and have a peek in!

Finally visited a live volcano in the Piton Mountains in St Lucia – the smell of sulphur was unbelieveable!!
