Tink will be returning in baby steps.
The party I attended was conducted with close attention to both physical and emotional safety/boundaries. It really helped alleviate the “touch starvation” that I often experience as a single person. I very much appreciate knowing that there’s someplace I can go to get (and give) cuddling without any sexual agenda.
What is a Cuddle Party, you ask? It is a workshop on nonsexual affectionate touch, with a specific trademarked format, as described at http://www.cuddleparty.com: “a structured, safe workshop on boundaries, communication, intimacy and affection. A drug and alcohol-free way to meet fascinating people in a relaxing environment. A laboratory where you can experiment with what makes you feel safe and feel good.
This playful, fun workshop has been a place for people to rediscover non-sexual touch and affection, a space to reframe assumptions about men and women, and a great networking event.”
I went partly for the fun of it, and partly to see what all the fuss is about. I don’t think becoming a Cuddle Party facilitator will be my path to completing this goal, but nonetheless I am fascinated by the approaches others are taking.
