I have recently gotten in touch with several of my old friends from high school and college. My college girlfriends and I are planning to have regular gatherings so we can stay close. Facebook and myspace have been great for keeping up on a daily basis. My goal is to make my relationships with old friends more than just exchanging Christmas cards.

I found myself with an extra hour. I’d planned ahead and brought a book, but then instead decided to drop by and catch up with old friends at work who I used to see regularly when our offices were close to each other but who I now have not seen in quite a while.
For an introvert like myself, spending an hour visiting is not the path of least resistance, and I am really glad I pushed myself to do it. It was heart warming. Afterwards, I found Mr. Wren’s words in my head, remembering how he often says, “when all is said and done, people are what’s important in life.”
I’ve made a blogspot with my best friend who goes to a different school, so I believe I’m a step closer to completing this goal.

Myspace helps to keep in touch! An email… and a phone call every so weeks! It’s good to keep in touch :)

Yesterday a woman I’ve known from work for 10 years invited me to go out to lunch. I am not the best at spontaneous action and I have entirely too many things to do for my job right now, so I am pleased to report that I accepted her invitation.
It feels so nice to have a pleasant lunch with someone who you like and who likes you and who you’ve known for many years, to catch up and laugh and take a little break from the normal worries of the day.
I’m glad I added this as a goal to make me focus my awareness more on the importance of nurturing friendships.
Next step, I need to offer a lunch invitation to another of my old work friends.

My holiday e-mail to old Yellowstone friends yielded three responses.
One woman is going to be sort of in town (30 miles from my home) on Sunday night. She’s going to a keynote speaker. She invited me to come by to hear her talk and see if we could hook up. The talk doesn’t start till 8 p.m., and I’m a 4:30 a.m. riser, and, well, she was never that good of a friend. Then again, she did respond to my e-mail.
Today I need to get up the nerve to nicely respond to her last e-mail and explain that I won’t be there Sunday night but leave the door open for further communication.

I finally did it!
I got out my holiday e-mail to my old pals and co-workers from the Yellowstone days. Hooray! It feels great to have done this!

from an old Yellowstone mate that I really need to respond to.
Why do I procrastinate on these things?
Only for a couple days so far. But when I’ve been doing this every day or so for a month, then I’ll congratulate myself.
