I think I’ve pretty much passed this goal a couple months ago. I just have to stay on top of things so I don’ fall out of it again. :D 6 years ago

To practice knitting in the round, to get ready for a first pair of socks, I made two face wash cloths. They turned out really nice, and I was able to churn out one per week during lunch breaks and while watching tv at home! yeay! So – my next project: my first pair of socks!! :D
p.s. – I actually finished the baby sweater before the baby was born! So, hopefully, his mom and him will both like it! 6 years ago
I would like a dressform. .... dunno when I am going to get it, but I am. 6 years ago
I have tons of projects to work on. But, now that the play is coming to an end, I’ll have more time! Plus, I have started knitiing and I know how to purl and knit, so I’m knitting a baby sweater – I have finished one sleeve and now I’m working on the other! :) 6 years ago
Finished a roll pillow I was knitting – finally stuffed it with batting and sewed the ends shut! I love it – it looks, girly, unique and cute. It’s on the couch ::big grin::
Next up – my leather purse. I had one from the 30s, but it is out of commission because it has been used so much… So, I’m using the old one as a pattern and bought a stone-oiled hide and it is gorgeos. I could probably make 4 purses from it, so I was going to design, make and sell the other three on ebay. :)
I am probably close to getting up to par with this goal, as I have been cranking out creations since the beginning of this year! (Well, with occasional breaks, like with the pillow) 6 years ago
I finished the shawl and it looked really nice. (My mom loved it, too!) I learned to increase and decrease! I also was really bad and bought two “stitch n’ bitch” books, because they were so cool. I have really enjoyed reading them, and am already learning new things, like that I have never made a slipknot before I cast on…
Anyways, now I am working on a roll pillow, and it is almost done! 7 years ago
I finally learned how to properly cast on – for some reason I could never get it right when I was by myself! I’m happy, though, because I am making my mother a shawl and it looks really good so far. I think I will be finished either today or tomorrow. Then, I think I will work on the green skirt. (I don’t know if I will make it into a dress, because I don’t want to look too costumey). 7 years ago
Back to that apron… The pattern is almost falling apart, so I bought this special material for copying patterns. I worked on copying them last night, marking seam sizes and everythig on the new pieces. I am almost finished, I only lack 3 more pieces! The coolest thing is that it’s a wierd fiber that can take some pin holes, too! 7 years ago
I don’t just want a cool suit. I want a green sundress, 40s style. Also, a white graphic laden sundress, which is all the rage now. I also want hand-made socks and knitted stuff – not the cheesy things, but cool! I have a million patterns and I could do so much, if only I had the time... but I will. I want to start going to the stich n – well, you know – nights at the local yarn store. I have heard it was a lot of fun! I just finished my grandmother’s apron; she loved it and now my personal projects will start! I’m thinking maybe I will go ahead and try to make the suit or the sundress – oh, here’s a list of things I either have to sew or fix:
To sew from scratch:
-Green 40’s style sundress
-Brown suit
-White w/graphics sundress
-diy shirts and other knick knacks
-More aprons for family and friends
To fix:
-Reversible skirt (I melted the lace bottom, but I already have the replacement ready)
-Tan jacket (need to bind the hem, because it sticks out)
-Punk shirt (need to transfer graphics on a new tee)
-Old jeans – crop them to make them short capris! 7 years ago
I went out for a day with my mom and found two of the coolest suits. AND for a first, they actually fit the way they were supposed to. So I bought them both. A Tahari and an Anne Klein II. I love them! But I’m still sewing the brown retro one! 7 years ago
I’m a petite size, but usually, everything petite is styled for older women. I’m also not stick thin nor stout, but I have some curves. On top of that, ready-to-wear clothing rarely fits well on anyone, especially tailored pieces, like suits. I want a sharp, edgy, dressy suit that is classic at the same time and that will last more than a couple of seasons. While I am looking for that (and I know it will have to be altered), I want to make my own “other suit” – you know how people say you need a classic black suit and then an “other suit” – well this is it. I already bought this brown vintage-looking fabric and I have tons of patterns at home to look though. I wanted the jacket to be a creation from some of my 40’s patterns. I will also make a skirt and pants that go with it. I’m pretty excited, because now I know it will fit me – that it’s made for me, so I will feel special when I wear it! I also have the coolest 50’s looking green fabric that would be absolutely perfect for a summer dress. (and it would go with the suit jacket.) So, I’m busting out the sewing machine yet again so I can look cool in 40’s clothes! Though my ol’ 1970 Necchi isn’t as cool as the one in the picture! 7 years ago
