Clerical work, something I’m an expert in. I’m hoping to get it, but even if I don’t, I found another job from which I can work from home (a la Out of Office). The job search is finally getting somewhere.

How to get a decent job

 "Umm... Well, I was fairly stressed out, since Seattle's job market kinda blows. However, I stuck to it and somehow landed an interview."
How I did it: I read resume/interview books, fixed up my resume so that it was well-organized, concise, and worthy of an interview. I also made sure to send it to those posting the ads as both a Word document and a PDF. And, I made sure that the e-mail with the attachments was written in the format of a specifically addressed and briefly informative e-mail cover letter. Lessons & tips: When I got the interview, I showed up punctually and had practiced my answers ahead of time to questions that they might ask me regarding the position and my interest in it. Resources: I got these books from the library and read them:
I used OpenOffice to make my resume, so that I could easily convert it to both a Word document and a PDF.

...to the department, but haven’t yet gotten an e-mail from them or gotten a call. Hiring in big organizations takes a long time, so I’m gonna have to be patient. Still, I found two more jobs to apply for, and am doing so today.

...and I’ve applied to fourteen positions (ones that I’d really like to do) in the past week. The “status” of a few of them (large organizations with online employment sites) has changed for the positive (“resume forwarded to dept”), which could be good!

I haven’t really worked on getting a job. But I’m starting school very very soon if all goes well, so I’m going to see if I can do that work study thing where you get paid for working at school. It’s not a lot of money, but I don’t have to go everywhere.

I applied for seven positions last week, with a resume and coverletter. I’m looking for an entry-level biotech job or assistant research position in a hospital. Wish me luck! It’s not my dream exactly, but I need something that interests me to hold me over until I get some things sorted out…
Got A Great Job

For 2 straight months I have been looking for a job. Any job. I have found one that not only pays well but also fits my life. I work til 2 pm and I don’t work weekends. With 2 kids this is a great schedule for me. The job isn’t to difficult. I’ve learned that if you work hard and never give up, your goals can be reached.
