finish my zine

I think I’m to the point where I could just sit down and put this together. I’m just scared that it won’t be as good as I hope. I think that’s what’s really keeping me from it.

My heart just isn’t in it anymore.

Seriously, making a zine is HARD. “Sinking Hearts” has taken me months + months, because things kept getting in the way, then you’ve actually got to know what to put in it. I have master copies I can photocopy but I’ve got to find a distro and sort all that crap out… I’ll wait til after my exams!

I hate being so busy. I hate being so unmotivatied. I hate being so lazy about this. I hate being so hard on everything I write. I don’t know if I’ll ever finish…

I’ve made some progress as far as research. But one of the things I tried and was super excited about failed completely, which doesn’t feel much like progress…

I am actually working on this thing and making some headway I think. A good friend of mine is working on one as well and so we are swapping some drafts to read and critique for one another. This is keeping me on track since obviously I have to come up with something to send to her! I have several pieces already finished and am working on several more. I hope to have this finished and printed by the end of the summer. Hopefully the distro will be reopened by then as well.

I finished my zine! I finally did the layout last night, got my mother to drive me to Staples after school, copied photos (halftone) pasted them in place, fought with the copier and came out with 17 copies of my 36 pages zine (counting front and back covers). I’m so excited. I’m handing some of them out to friends tomorrow and I have to figure out what to do with them now. Any suggestions?

I’ve almost finished my zine but then I hit a big bump when the scanner I wanted to use died. The zine is just laying on the kitchen floor now. Mostly what I need to do now is find the motivation I had before. But I am close to done!

I did this! I felt so accomplished afterwards, especially since I did it completely independently. I’d def recommend do this!
