I don’t even know what all this entails to me yet… I just know that I NEED to get involved. I see other people doing it, and it inspires me and pulls at my heart. I have a friend who writes an article for a local paper, friends who are in art and fashion shows, friends who do local freelancing, friends who volunteer for local events, a friend who shoots photos for concerts and other local events, a friend who publishes a local food magazine, etc etc etc. All of that and so much more is the person I want to be.

Here are some of the initial ideas I have:

get involved in my community
get more involved in my life
get involved in my dreams
get involved with helping others
get involved with contributing to local causes and events
etc
etc
etc

I want to get more involved with all the clubs I’ve signed up for at university, those being: The Secular Society, Political Interest Club, Chocolate Lovers Society, Arts Students Society, and the Squash Club.

...So far I’ve only been to the Political Interest Society meetings. I’ve also been asked to go to the Socialists Alternative meetings, but I don’t see myself as a Socialist, which could be a minor problem.

I want to get involved with people and communities. I’ve been a lone ranger for way too long. People can be quite fascinating, they add a whole new dimension to life.

Here in Quebec, we have what we call the “Club des petits déjeuners”. It would translate by the “breakfast club” where any kid, especially poor kids can get a complete breakfast for 50 cents a day. It started in our highschool a few weeks back and we’re only the 5th high school having it. Most of the schools that have it are primary schools. Anyways, I offered to volunteer when it started and I now work in the kitchen every Friday morning helping out and putting my years of working in restaurants kitchen as a student to use!! It’s great and my students that see me there think its very funny to see their teacher with a hair net and an apron!! ;-)

I must get out into the world and give some of my time to a charity organization like Habitat for humanity, the local food bank or something like that. Maybe I could do it with the family and get the kids invilved too!

I’m sick of staying at home all day and sulking. I want to get involved, be with other people, meet new friends! Yep, that’s pretty much it.
