I finally learned how to ride a bike (again). Yes, my dad taught me when I was little. It’s a lie, you do forget. (I think I was never that good at it and just never went out on a bike once I had officially “learned.”)
Anyway, I was at my friends’ earlier this week (Monday), and they helped me start off. Their bikes were all way too big and fancy to learn on, and we had limited time. So when I got home on Wednesday, I practiced on one of my housemates’ bikes, which was much more appropriately-sized, and had handbrakes, which are very nice. Anyway I still didn’t quite get the hang of it, but I went out again today and managed to make a full circuit around the park where I’ve been practicing. I’m still a little wobbly, can’t handle sharp turns yet, and wouldn’t really want to be out in the street, but I have finally (re-)mastered cycling! I got thoroughly beat up in the process… I have more bruises right now than I have ever gotten from rugby!
But I am glad to have snuck that one in before I turned twenty.
How to learn how to ride a bike
How I did it: A friend of mine was moving out and gave me her bike (Thanks Hannah), another friend assembled me and took me to a parking lot which slightly slanted down (thanks Jo!) and pushed me down. I had been struggling for months on even ground but the moment i got in that lot, the momentum just took me and i just pedaled on!it was really awesome. After that my 8yr old egged me on (thanks Lex!!) and with her help, i got to learn how to get going on even ground, how to control the bike (by leaning in the direction of the turn) and here i am now!!
Lessons & tips: -get a downward sloping parking lot. Take a friend with u if u think u'll look like a dork. That friend might come in handy, too, to hold the bike up.
-start pedalling really fast, and off u go!
Resources: Lots of friends. And a helmet

Alright. Saturday I attempted to at my friends house. At first one of my friends was holding it, then when he let go it whent to the side and I jumped off before I fell.
But then he said to just walk and pedal for a second to get a handle on my balance. And that was working much better.
After a few minutes we gave up though. =]
Another day though, I shall try again! It was a positive expierence. I feel I can do it for sure.
I’m almost 20, and I still can’t ride a bike. Now I have to because it’s the only way I’ll be able to get to work early enough. I’ve been trying for a while…went online checked out all the self help website. I am soo embarassed to go and wobble it outside in a park, but the backyard isn’t large enough. I can’t seem to maintain my balance.I am afraid of falling so each time the bike starts falling over, I put my foot down. I had a go earlier this morning, but I scraped my leg on the pedal and got fed off…
Bike 2, Me 0.
I frequently find myself gazing adoringly at the bikes locked up on racks around campus.
My boyfriend and I live in the same neighborhood back home and I have to chase after him when he bikes around.
Some friends and I explored the woods once and I had to ride someone’s handlebars for way, way, way too many miles.
I’m eighteen, I love the idea of biking, I want to finally learn how. When my parents took the training wheels off my Little Mermaid bike when I was four, it was a downward spiral from then on. This summer, I’m changing that.

A while back, Hil took my sister and me out to this nearby elementary school parking lot, and my sister and I both rode around it! I was so euphoric. God, it was like nothing else. All those years of shame and regret I associated with bike riding were gone. It was monumental. I’m still learning, but now I know that I’m gonna get there, and it’s the best thing.
How do I learn to ride a bike?
1. I lack bike.
2. I’m in this strange new city and don’t really want to end up getting hurt trying to do this myself.
Are there any ‘classes’ on how to ride a bike?
Kinsdale twitter me at KimRadd! :)
I completed this goal at Burning Man last week! I told my camp mate Andy that I couldn’t ride a bike and she forced me onto one. It only took me a minute until I was riding around. Very fun and liberating. Woo hoo!!! :)
I never really learned how to ride a bike as a kid because I was scared and now I want to commute by bike because I hate waiting for the bus. I’m still a little scared of riding in traffic, but I think you should do something every day that scares you. Today’s my day to learn how to ride a bike.

Well. My parents tried to teach me when I was younger, but that didn’t work out.
My logic as I got older whenever someone suggested I tried to learn was, “Why bother, I’ll be able to drive soon enough.”
I’m seventeen now, and finally got around to getting my permit the other day.
But, you know what? I really would like to learn how. It’d be a good form of exercise, and useful if I ever moved to the city or something. Plus I don’t want to be older and have kids and be the mom who can’t teach her own kids how to ride a bike, you know?
