There is a 5K in September. Maybe I can start out with that. I have not been doing any consistent running though. That is not good. Not so certain of my endurance. I need to get more bras…it is hard for a girl w/ biguns to find a decent bra that is not like $40 bucks a pop.

Excuses…but there is truth in there!

    2008 23 months ago

Well, I am not participating in the Miami Half marathon at the end of the month. So that is a complete wrap. I have not been training with any consistency and the point is to do better, not worst. So, I am going to try this running group for beginner runners tomorrow. I have told the coach my intentions and we are going to chat tomorrow. I am excited. We’ll see. So for now I am planning on Miami Half 2009, unless I find another one that I am interested in, that is also relatively local for later in the year.

What a difference a year makes! 2 years ago

I completed my first, and only, half marathon last spring. This year, my husband and I are training for the Marine Corps Marathon. As part of the training, we will be running a half marathon. I never thought I would see the day when I would participate in a half marathon as a training run!!!! :D

    In the mail . .. . 2 years ago

I received my official certificate of completion yesterday in the mail, as well as the official program. My name is in there. I was talking w/ the boyfriend yesterday saying my numbers are pretty pathetic . .. but he was very supportive reminding me that this was my first one. So the numbers look a little something like this:

    Official Time: 3:48:06
    Net Time: 3:40:23
    Official Place: 6361 of 6523
    Gender Place: 3147 of 3278
Age Division Place: 537 of 550

As you see, I succeeded in 2 of my goals . .. not to be the last person to cross the line for the 1/2 marathon and to beat 4 hours.

    Cheers to me!

For all of you out there trying to get into running for the first time or re-kindle the running flame . .. YOU CAN & WILL DO IT!

Slow and steady STILL finishes the race . .. . .

    be well!

ING Miami Half Marathon 2008 2 years ago

OK, so I just finished registering for the 2008 Half. It cost me 50 bucks, plus a 3 dollar and change processing fee. . . fees fees fees all over . .. annoying! So, that much is done. I am in . . . no turning back. Not that it was an option, or that I had any intent to do so.

    Cool!

    done & done

Registering for the 2008 ING Miami Marathon tomorrow! 2 years ago

I think the title says it all. I mentioned it to one of my friends in NY and she is all psyched and ready to do it with me. I will register tomorrow, when I get paid and it will be done and done. She is psyched. So am I. She purchased as she put it “ugly running sneakers” so she is all in . . . ugly running shoes and all. Looking forward to tomorrow!

    And I'm off . . . 2 years ago

I participated in ING Miami Marathon and Half Marathon this past January. . Jan 28th to be exact. I completed a half marathon! Whoo hoo! I who am over 200 pounds and will only run for the bus, on a good day and the train on an even better day. But with the goal of raising 2700 dollars and free room and board I was in. It was also for a great cause the AIDS Marathon to raise funds for the Walker-Whittman clinic in DC. Anywho . . . 3 hours and 40 minutes later I crossed the finish line. I stuck with a pace of 2 minutes of running and 2 minutees of walking for approximately the first 8/9 miles . .. after that . . . it was walk, walk, walk, oh yeah…run . . . oh heck no . . walk! But through it all I stuck with it and with prayers and determiniation I made it. Now I am hooked on this running thing. I am looking to participate in a run in DC in April and am ready to register for the 2008 Half. I figure I did not really follow the program for this race, so imagine how much better I will do and how much better shape I will be in next year . . so to all the other runners out there that are starting and are overweight and under fit . . . you can do it. Walk it, crawl it, jog it, just keep moving it to the finish line. You can do it!
