ppl always give me shit bc i pay so much attention to the lyrics of songs. i really enjoy music and why wouldn’t you. but i guess that’s how songs like “lollipop” get popular and why 6 year olds are singing about giving blow jobs.
How to listen to music more
How I did it: i stopped relying on crap they play on the radio and went back to when there was good music....mainly 60s and 80s music. i have expanded my music library and now have much more to listen to, instead of just leaving the tv on as background noise.
Lessons & tips: expand your options past the radio and mtv.

music has made me quite sad in the past and recently but today, it’s been nostalgic and in a good way. i love how songs can bring you back to certain times in your life and make u smile just a little. or songs can just give a great message and even though u dont know the singer/songwriter, they make you feel like it’s all gonna be alright.
I think it’s strange that ppl judge you based on what music you listen to. The type of music you enjoy does not make who you are. I love pop music. In New York, people make fun of me because it’s “trendy”. And?? I’m sorry I don’t like indie rock? Who said I wanted to be “cool”? and who made these ppl those who determine what music is cool.
Anyway. I just bought the Jesse Mccartney cd. It rocks. And guess what, it’s trendy.

I like a whole lot of this music! Blues CD that I’d shelve next to my selective CD of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s music.

Elvis Presley. Until recently, I thought, “He’s dead, folks, get over it,” and, “Why didn’t somebody fire his hair stylist?”
My aunt (an Elvis fan club member in her teen years) recently introduced me to Mr Presley’s earlier (pre-abominable Elvis movie era) work, back when his hair moved and he sang with more of an R&B sound, back when he was unique and controversial. A couple of songs I recognized, most I hadn’t heard. He made some good, I was surprised to learn.
Why, WHY did he change into that joker with the plastic hair, neckerchief, phony suave, crooning lousy actor? My aunt says the real Elvis disappeared during his army stint. Too bad!

Do singers and musicians do what they do because they love it or are driven to do it? How much, if at all, do they think about someone listening to their music and really hanging on every note, either being pumped up by it and energized, or soothed, or just being in awe at the beauty? I guess they’d naturally like it that they have fans, but as a listener, listening to something that really gets to me has such an internal impact.
Do singers listen to other singers they think are really great and simply enjoy it, or is their appreciation tinged with analyzing the performance, or trying to figure out how they can do similarly? Probably depends on the person.
I just wonder about things like that sometime.

I just ordered a used CD online after hearing a song on cable TV, then listening to samples from it on amazon.com. Okay – 1 new CD down, more to go!

I’ve been listening to cable TV music stations. Gotta find some new tunes. Some of it is irritating, but I’ve been keeping track of music I like so I can download or buy later. Takes time, but so does finding anything new – foods, activities, whatever. I’m completely tired of not having new musical input!
