Finally got Off the long drawn out orientation. The manager actually apoligized to me and stated that the period should have been 4 weeks, not eight, but that they had been disorganized….
I’m super glad that is over, and am glad to get back to work tomorro am….

recertified after having been expired for 7 months. Don’t want to expire again, but it was difficult to get into a class with the new AHA guidelines. So now, for the moment I have passed all required exams and am certified in everything I need to be certified in to work ing the department. Whew. I sort of forgot how much we have to do….

Did tPA today which is not really the most common occurrence for us. Thats the clot buster drug. Interesting as it works and really well. Within about 15 minutes the patient had shown remarkable improvement in movement, ie: where there was none before, there was quite a bit. Unfortunately his confusion didn’t abate and he rose up and attempted to mangle myself and 5 others. So, he got intubated. so seem to be doing pretty well….Other patients did well as well…
long day. Admit that I’m not looking forward to doing it all over again on Monday….

Got everything done in a fairly timely manner. No codes.
Just quite busy. Interesting patients mostly pleasant people.
Mark this goal complete when I finish the 90 days period.

Patient today coded in the freaking CT scanner. Really stable up until the code point.
Interestingly for me, she then proceeded to get a rhythm, then code, get a rhythm and code again 4 times until she was pronounced. Particularly difficult, though since we had CT scan results, she was shown to have quite a logical explaination, and the combination of 2 injuries made any decent treatment impossible.
I got a “compliment” from the attending that I remained calm in the chaos of the code, but it was just so frustrating and depressing…. :(

people waiting in Waiting room for 7 hours. Not good at all.
I did pass the blitz though, which is good news, and somehow survived the mess that we created. More tomorro. Fun.

was insane. Worked Psych holding with the “psych nurse” who also has psych issues…so insane patients, and interesting staff.
Glad that that orientation period is complete. Hoping to get over to do the big traumas on Thursday, but have no idea whats planned. Heck, we may be on Trauma Divert.

Was sort of crazy, but not in the usual good crazy way, sort of tedious and not exactly right. In general things went well, but I defintiely felt like things were sort of moving towards a ride on the crazy bus…
