Start a Backgammon Club

Next week we shall number four (not including my regular bg buddy).

Four of us last night. Let’s see how regular we are.

The Canadian guy came along again on Tuesday. He wanted to play both me and my regular opponent simultaneously, which he did, beating me and losing the other match. If his regular opponent can make it along we might have the beginnings of a club.

With the kind of personal problems revolving around. Some time in the future, maybe.

The Backgammon Soc at Edinburgh Uni meets on Mondays during term time at the Human Be-in (a pub). I’ll go along sometime next term.

Played against a Canadian tonight. He seems keen to play regularly and has at least one other backgammon opponent who might also join us.

Another bod has been in touch looking for a few games of backgammon in Edinburgh.

And just as I left Newcastle there was a third reply to my gumtree ad for BG partners there. In the thirteen weeks I was going down to Newcastle I only managed a couple of nights playing BG, against a woman player. She was good.

On Buzzcocks last night there was a video of Catherine Zeta Jones which included a clip of her playing BG. Maybe BG is a big thing in the Douglas household:)

Played a few games tonight with Mara, who showed me how to play Plakoto

In Greece backgammon is really a set of three games, played in turn to add variety. Hmm, I didn’t know that until tonight.

I had no luck at all last night against my regular backgammon buddy.

I have found three people in Edinburgh who’d like to play backgammon, so with me and my backgammon buddy that makes five people in all.

It is proving difficult to get them to make an actual commitment to meeting up and actually playing though. Just as well I feel I’m able to be patient on this one.
