    Table! 17 months ago

My uncle and aunt brought the table that goes with the chairs. I have all the makings of a furnished apartment, but I think I need a little more light. And maybe somethings on the walls, yo. Still. This apartment, she is furnishèd.

    Couch! 19 months ago

illmarinen brought over an Ikea loveseat that she owns; her apartment can’t use it and it’s unnecessary at her parents’ house. Now we can watch movies in comfort!

    Lamps 22 months ago

Yesterday I bought lamps from Ikea. The apartment could use a tiny bit more light, but for the most part is well illumined. Huzzah.

I have the chairs, but no table. Once I have the table, IKEA will sell me the lamps I desire. Soon: victory!

My father visited and graciously offered to buy me something for my apartment. I envisioned something like a blender, but when the day ended I had a chair and footstool, a computer desk, and a new bookshelf. Now I need a table and chairs and a few lamps.

I’m thinkin’ everything is going to come from either Target/Wal-Mart or the thrift store.

    Here is what I have:
    —a really cute lamp
—a really cute end table (just one, though)
    —a bathroom rug
—moon chair that looks like it belongs in a dorm room
—some things to hang on the wall

    Here is what I need:
    -TV stand
—futon (since I’m moving into an efficiency, it’s good to have a bed that doubles as a couch)
—coffee table (okay, maybe this isn’t a NECESSITY, but it’d be nice to have something to put food, drinks, magazines, ashtrays, etc., on, especially since I doubt I’ll have room for a dinette set)-air mattress (for when friends I DON’T want in bed with me stay over)-dresser that won’t look too out of place in a living room/bedroom—bookcase (I have a LOT of books!)
—various decor, which I will purchase at either Earthbound Trading Co. or World Market because I really like those places

EDIT 5/10/07: Now that I’m getting a ONE BEDROOM, I probably need more furniture…crap. I guess I’ll use this paycheck (or my birthday money if I got any) for something to sleep on other than a pallet on the floor.

    Je fini... 2 years ago

so, at approximately sixteen months in my apartment I managed to get it to a point similar to what one might expect a space someone actually lives in to appear.

this is wonderful as I will be having to pack up within the next few months in order to move back to New Jersey.

it is still nice to have a sense of accomplishment.

I highly suggest it and now will have more wonderful things to furnish my new apartment with!

a place to sleep. 3 years ago

two people in one twin bed is not a good thing.
so, my boyfriend and i finally saved a bit of money and bought a full-sized bed.
    and a mattress.
    and a memory foam mattress-topper.
oh yeah, we went all out!
now we don’t spend all night elbowing each other.
    ahh bliss.

all we have next on our “basic furnishings” list is our entertainment center/book shelf.
    that’s going to be built.
    i’m excited!

After several months and substantial monies my apartment is beginning to look like a place people actually live …
most specifically a place that I live.

Who ever saw this day really coming?
Who ever thought I would get my shit together enough to be able to offer more than just my bed for visitors to sit on?

    Not me …

    Furniture!
