I did this for several years but a long term illness broke me of the habit, time to start up again.

I would place this discipline in the top 10 best things I have ever done for myself in my entire life.

From my critique: 2 years ago

I think you are writing with a nice, understated style, one that has nice rhythms to it and one that works well with the story you are telling. For the most part, you know how to set a scene and choose just the right details to get the scene moving.

The best thing about this section and the novel in general is the voice you write with. You have a calm, direct narrative voice that does a very good job of providing enough details, dialogue, and narrative to keep the story moving. The importance of this element can not be overstated because it gives your story and your writing an authority that many others simply do not have.

Okay, woman. No more excuses. You can and should be doing this.

From The Complete Idiot's Guide to Writing a Novel: 2 years ago

If you want to write novels, just write those three pages a day. Figure it out: 3 pages a day (and let’s take off weekends for whatever else needs attention in your life) works out to 15 pages a week, and around 60 pages a month. In six months, you will have a 360-page manuscript.

Not a large novel…but not a small one, either.
