Its name will be Lincoln... 16 months ago

No matter what gender it is. I had a very close friend who passed away, who wanted a hedgehog very much, so it will be named in honor of him.

    Jen This is Max. :D

I had two, actually. 2 years ago

Their names were Bob and Dante, and they were both adorable.

Would I get another one someday? No. It can be very difficult finding a veterinarian with hedgehog experience, and both of mine developed weird (and, sadly, fatal) illnesses that nobody knew how to treat. It might be a little easier to find a suitable vet these days than when I had hedgehogs, but I’m not willing to take chances again.

    update. 2 years ago

so i finally got around to emailing some people in florida who breed hedgehogs. and i couple of them emailed me back. apparently, they don’t cost $100, they cost $200. and my parents & i dont have that type of money right now, when my brother just recently got in a motorcycle accident, and he got kicked out of the house he was staying at. [he lives 2 hours away in orlando for college, so he can’t come back here and still get to school and work]. and then my other brother’s birthday just passed, so more money was used towards that. my parents are careless about using their money actually, usually putting it towards useless things that we don’t need. like another computer table, when the one we have it fine. or more dining room chairs, when we already have plenty. but anyways, even if i did get the money for my hedgehog, i’d still need a way of getting ahold of it. because, the nearest breeder is in winter haven, about 2 hours away from me. i don’t have my license quite yet, and the only people i can ask for a ride, aren’t even that reliable. THEN, after that, i need to find a vet, purchase a cage, a water bottle, wheel & bedding, and much more. this is such a hassle, and i’m willing to do it. but it’s just so much work. :(

    pet store. 2 years ago

    another cute hedgehog. :)

so i’m still thinking about getting a hedgehog.
but the thing is that i’ve gone to numerous pet shops in my neighborhood.
and not one store, carries them.

i did stumble upon a website from a breeder that lives only 30 minutes away.
but they haven’t updated the site since ‘05.

if you have a hedgehog, or have seen one in the stores,
    mind telling me where?

i’m thinking maybe petco carries them,
but the closest one is about 50 miles away.

    $100 , $100, $100. 2 years ago

it’s only that much, but being the horrible money-saver i am, and all the other things i want to get done, this goal will take quite a while. :(

    just look at that faceee.
i could never say no to that. :(

I love my hedgehog she is a great pet. I had a really hard time finding a breeder and after months of waiting I was able to go pick her up! After driving for 3 hours I finally got to see her! This is one of my favorite pictures of her, she’s about 4 weeks old. She is all grown up now. _

Remember that story by Beatrix Potter? It made me love hedgehogs. It’s illegal to own one in Georgia though. Gee. Guess i’ll have to move :)
