I’ll be 84 when it passes, i’d better keep an eye on my eyes so I can at least see it. But what I really want to see is the 2029 near earth asteroid collision. It;s supposed to pass real close. my goal is a helluva telescope watching it or possibly watching my own end?
any thoughts on what the alignment in 2012 may bring, my guess is weird weatherandpossiblyearthquakeshurricanestornadoesblizzardsand then partly cloudy
Imagine the age a man lived to at his peak around 100 years ago , 50 maybe 60 now today its 70 80 more 90’s and were finding more and more one hundreds… big numbers out there. If you were born on newyears eve 2000 theoretically that child could live to be 120… i’m just hoping for a nice round number 00’s preferably.
There’s a program called “Celestia”, a sort of solar system and star browser that’s free online, that really peaked my interest in this one. Of course it mostly comes down to my living until I’m 81 or 82… Guess I better watch my health.
I got a book about Halley’s Comet when I was nine and I have been wanting to do this ever since. If I do see it, I will be 70. I hope I can live that long.
An ongoing project for this goal-oriented 50-year old male is to complete what someone else coined a “Productivity Pyramid”. It’s essentially a blueprint for live, and the first order of business is to know what’s important to you – your Governing Values (Benjamin Franklin created his own, and he was one of the most successful and respected people ever to live).
With a firm belief that you only get one chance at this incredible experience called life on this amazing one-in-a-trillion sphere in the Universe called Earth, as long as I’m of sound mind, I want to be on this planet for as long as possible. My chosen vocation is providing Information, Products & Services that benefit the environment. And boy, do we have a lot of work to do.
When I started working on my Productivity Pyramid and began thinking about all that I wanted to do and accomplish . . . (it’s some list) I knew it was going to take a lot of days. So I began looking towards the future for a “line-in-the-sand” type goal to go after. I saw that the return of Halley’s Comet, on/or about July 28, 2061, was a stretch, but certainly within reach. If Halley’s Comet swings through our galaxy on time, I’ll be less than a month away from my 104th birthday. Which will hopefully give me enough time to do all that I want to do.
It will undoubtedly be a very different world by then. In fact, because of the environmental degradation that has and is expected to take place, man’s future existence may very well be in question. But as I turn out the light for the last time, in 2061, or hopefully later, I hope I can put my head down knowing that my words and actions transcended to enough other people so that our environment is healthy enough to allow man to continue to live a productive life here on planet Earth – the only home we will every know!
