my first failed audition 9 months ago

A year ago now I auditioned for Gypsy at a local community theater. I sang “If Mama Was Married” had to dance and read for Louise. I was good at the reading, but I was so nervous singing that my voice was shaky and I had to restart the song. And I found out I can’t dance that day too. I still got a call back (I was the only one at the audition that knew what “Gypsy” was) but I didn’t do much better, and was never contacted again. Since I have been taking singing lessons and working on my stage fright. We’ll see if it ever amounts to anything :P

Stage Fright 12 months ago

I did some community theater when I was a kid, but as I got older I developed a bad case of stage fright. Now in college, I’m taking a theater class (to fulfill a requirement) and I have to act in the final project of the semester. I have been cast as Lady MacBeth; I don’t think I need to further explain why I’m so nervous.
But I don’t want to just “get through” this project; I would really like to be good. This is going to take some work.

Murder Mystery Dinner 22 months ago

Last year, I organized a murder mystery dinner in England. With my schedule, I’m starting to think this is the closest I am going to get to accomplishing this goal in the near future.

Good luck to everyone!

Just last Thursday I found out that I got a part in my school’s production of The Crucible! :3 I’m Sarah Good. Should be fun~ It’s not a big part, but I will rock those five lines I do have. XD

I’m so excited! Rehearsals start tomorrow night.

I did it! 22 months ago

I was too busy while I was in the play to write about it here, but I did it! And a lead role too! It was fun, exhausting, fascinating, frustrating, and enlightening. I am actually capable of memorizing lines! I also discovered that I will not fall over dead if I forget them. (I didn’t fall over dead once.)

Will I do it again? I don’t know yet. There are still 41 other things on this list I want to do. But I’m very glad I did it and know what it’s like. Nothing beats following your dreams.

I’m going to take a few theatre classes this summer semester, which will get me a little closer to acting sometime, I hope.

I’m also going to take a directing class the fall after that.

I’ve been in one play during my 8th grade year. It was Bye Bye Birdie and since we were all so young, no one got cut. I’ve tried out for all the high school plays and have gotten one call back. All of my friends and even some strangers have said that I’m talented but how can I believe them when I can never get a part in anything??? It’s depressing when I see all of my friends succeed and not me.

Introduction 3 years ago

Nearly all of my life, I’ve wanted to be an actress. Lately that want has diminished, but I still want to be involved in a play sometime in my life.

In high school, I was never in a play. I didn’t audition for any in my freshman year, due to injury the first time, illness the second. Sophomore year, I auditioned for both the fall play and the musical. The fall play was Shakespeare, and as much as I love him, I can not memorize his monologues, so no shot there. For the musical, I did the Epiphany monologue from Dogma, which I thought was a perfect dramatic monologue. But I didn’t get in, and I was crushed. Junior year, I only auditioned for the fall play, doing Donkey’s Girl Dragon monologue from Shrek. Once again, no dice. At this point I wondered if they disregarded me because I was using movie monologues instead of play, because both of those were the best performances I’d ever done. Also that year, I got a part in one of the one acts for the festival. Unfortunately, due to incompetence on the cast’s part, the play was canceled. Senior year, again I only auditioned for the fall, and I did a monologue from Oedipus, since we were reading it in English class and I loved the monologues in it. Yet again, nothing. But this time it was because I forgot every single line, and even had to start over, which pretty much automatically makes them refuse you, even though they let you start over. Then I decided to take a stab at directing a one-act, but that came out a worse disaster than the last one act in which I played an actual part.

So long story short, I have had no luck in the theatre business, but still I want to be in SOMETHING.

Did an amateur dramatics performance of the Winslow boy in wanstead town hall with a paying audience and 4 performances. It was a good, but time consuming experience and I was pretty nervous before the first two performances but didn’t let that affect me on stage. It’s good doing something different and its something I was maybe close to doing when I was a kid, but my parents never pushed me forward to do it so at 28, I’ve only just done it.
