learn japanese, spanish, chinese and french

why these languages?
spanish: many countries speak it or some variant.
french: ditto. and it sounds so beautiful.
chinese: large population of the world speaks it.
japanese: i’ve learned it in high school and would like to develop my knowledge of the language.

armed with proficiency in these languages, i will feel much more confident when travelling – compared to my first time in mexico, where i relied heavily on my lonely planet phrasebook – and still got it wrong.
