that my husband has to have MORE back surgery? He has had what is being called ‘Hardware Failure’. So, what that means is that one of his bolts (L4 and L5) has come loose, is flopping around and generally creating havoc.. sigh…
So, it has to come out! ugh..shit. Back surgery is difficult at best. A second back surgery is worse. Driver says this is the LAST surgery on his back he is going to do.
So today, it was decided that his back is no worse than it was 6 weeks ago. We asked if IT could wait until after Christmas. The dr. said, let’s take it piecemeal. Let’s take it in 6 week increments.
So, we are going to NOT do surgery this month or next month. We are going to wait for 6 weeks, re-evaluate, and then see what he thinks.
the one right thing we did was we took our taxes, which by the way we did really really late this year, and paid some of our credit cards off. I am working at reducing our debt.
Here is what he looks like now (minding that L3-L4 are fused)

He’s going to look like frankenstein when it’s all done. So, CHEERS for my husband.

for the first time in nearly 4 months. He says his arm is strong, his ‘timing’ is a bit off. I am glad he is back to doing what he does. A man needs to work.
Yeah, it’s all good.

Driver got a job. The job he’s been seeking since he started in this whole trucking business. He’s working for a company that hauls gasoline around to different places.
So, he started 3 nights ago. Apparently it’s nightshift work. However, nightshift for this company and nightshift for the comany I work for are 2 entirely different definitions.
He’s very pleased. I’m happy for him. I’m not so happy about how MUCH he’s got to work. However, with as behind as we’ve been on the bills, I figure it’s all good. At least for now.

Driver got laid off last Thursday. The ‘ole boy he worked for was pretty great about it and offered him an extra week of pay. That was pretty nice.
But he doesn’t have a job yet. He’s been driving a little over a year now, which makes it tough to GET a job, d/t his relative inexperience. It’s not like nursing where they’ll take anyone with a warm body and an active license.
So, we trudge on.

now, he’s not haulin’ nuclear weapons, he’s hauling corn. BUt he seems to love it.
He needs some time on this license to be able to get a job hauling hazmat’s with this class A.
Who knew that drivin trucks was such a closed society.

It’s not on his class A license, but it’s a job. Once he got that job, he started making contacts. He has a job lined up for the end of summer that will count towards his class A.
Apparently you need at least a year in CLASS A for anyone local to hire you (for something other than over the road work).
The good news is that he’s working. It’s wonderful for his ego and his attitude.
We’ll keep banging away at it.

He’s had a hard time getting a job. See, we live in a fairly cloistered area. It’s not industrialized (‘cept for the chicken plants), it’s not big on manufacturing. So, mostly the driving jobs are over the road.
He has however, been able to obtain (god oh please, let this work) temp work driving class B, but using his hazmats.
I just want him back to work.
He’s not meant to be a stay at home kinda man. He defines his life by his work or his ability to work …or something like that.
