etherealessence is such a lucky girl!
My husband and I did some volunteer work, and it was so fun! We also got interviewed together (Ha! That was cool!) by a DJ from one of the popular radio stations around here with regards to what we were doing. It was a cute experience, and a bit ironic since we met in a speech class years back, and there we were practicing our speech impromptu style :D
Alina the Special really is very special....
....’kay so not an incredible amount of effort.
But and incredibly amount of overcoming nerves. Actually, The only reason I went along with it to begin with is because my mum promised me I could redecorate the bathroom however I wanted, if I did (it’s gonna be orange. I don’t care what anyone says. I will have an orange bathroom.)
And yeah, It wasn’t live, and I had a script. But it was still scary for me. (especially seeing as I hate my voice SO much.)
Actually it was just for a radio advert.
Because the BBC (It was springwatch. Bill Oddie came and everything. XD) came to my area to plant some plants and give us some beetles and shit.
So I just had to talk about it. It was on BBC london 94.9….
I got to go to the station, which was pretty cool. I saw the BBC news studio, and almost walked up there when they were filming.
If anyone saw a disembodied finger float around on the backround of the news recently…. that was me. XD
so yeah….
- Alina.
P.S: You know, one of mt ‘things’ should be to stop ending every single entry with ‘so yeah….’ XD.
I guess it is poetic justice, irony or maybe karma that I ended up working in radio. As a kid, I would call the same radio station every fifteen minutes (in the business, we call that a quarter-hour) and try to disguise my voice while requesting the same song over and over, until the station finally played it!
As far as a career goes… radio beats the heck out of a real job!

I’ve been told many times that I have a good voice for radio, so I had better get on there and see.
