Writing goes like this lately... 2 years ago

    1. Sit at computer
    2. Google people that may be more sucessful than I am
    3. Light up cigarette
    4. Begin downloading music I will need to write
    5. Obsessively analyze lyrics of bands like the Pretenders
    6. Call in for Sushi

Many hands and shit... 3 years ago

So, I’m getting people to give me feedback on a completed scene—well, as soon as I get it back from my mentor and see what he has to say about it.

    One more. 3 years ago

Got another scene drafted for one of my pieces. I think the working title is “Skin Deep”, which sucks unless you’re me. It was “Cadaver Class”. Pretty rough draft, too.

    Meh.

Date with myself. 3 years ago

    I love dates with myself!

Now I need to set work dates, though. I think that setting aside two hours three days a week is not too much. It might be too little, in fact, but since I also have rehearsals (with myself since we don’t have our production partners for the recital yet…) I’m not sure that I’ll have time for more. Tomorrow, two hours of rehearsal, then, I think, I’ll go to Pettirosso and write.

”...so I want you to do the homework.”

Which is what my mentor, Tony Curry said to me, when he called me a few hours after our first class. The homework for Play Writing (which I, like all the Conservatory student, are auditing) was to write a two-person scene, with a third character: a dead body.

I got off the phone with him and I had the whole play in my head. A few details to work out, but it was there.
