Finding Good Coffee 2 years ago

I almost forgot about this goal, but I just added a few more places to the Bypassing the Coffee Siren Community Walk Map to let other people find good coffee in Halifax, Sackville, and Fredericton.

I feel diligent I’ll go to 43P and do the coffee map thing. In the mean time however…..

I go to an Argentian coffee stall at the Organic Market in Lilyfield (Sydney, Australia). They do incredibly good coffee and when they meet a freak like me are enthusiastic enough to make sure I try their chocolate coated beans and smell various regions before they make me a perfect macchiato. They also donate $2 from each bag of coffee to orphanages & schools in Argentina.

Also the crazy bastard who works on the stall loves to regale me with stories he’s heard of horrific motorcycle crashes. I perversely love to hear them.

To get to the point- the dood put a fresh chilli into the espresso machine for me today and it was just swell! Really put some lead back in the pencil. I’ve done this with dried chillis before, this was better, anyone else tried making chilli coffee?

There are some, but I can’t think of the names right now. They did open up a Port City Java right near Eastern Market though.

NYCinephile – I can tell you about my all my favourite coffee shops, but…well, I highly doubt you’ll ever see them. You know, since they’re in Africa.
Sorry, but I can’t do this.

    Boquete 3 years ago

Boquete is a coffe producing town up in the Chiriqui Highlands. I found this great article about it.

I’m going to Chiriqui next weekend to visit mom. I’ll try to update your maps with the coffe stores I’ll find there. In the old times, before the US/EU retirement fever catch upon Panama, you’ll have coffe at a friend’s home, just fresh from roasting in the backyard or at an old small pub near the town’s plaza straight from the 50’s. It was bought and remodeled (I miss the hot chocolate they prepared there), it had lost its 50’s charm :-( , now there are “coffe shops” everywhere, targeted for tourists at premium prices, well, guess that’s the price of progress.
