How to go abroad by Jane2009

"7 hours in Amsterdam!"

How I did it: Having randomly come across a P&O 'second passenger goes free' "minicruise" for £70, we decided to book it, and we wouldn't have lost much even if it was terrible.

You board the ferry at Hull at 5pm, and then sail overnight to Rotterdam. At the port, you get the chartered coach to Amsterdam, and then have seven hours to explore, before returning to the coach that evening, back to Europort, and then another overnight sailing home.

For what we paid, it was a really good break. Just enough time to have a wander round Amsterdam (I've been before and must admit - it's not one of my favourite cities in the world). Being on the ferry is quite good fun too - in a sort of overpriced, tacky Blackpool kind of way - although the overnight sailing meant it was too dark and cold to spend much time up on deck.

I'd definitely do another one.

Lessons & tips: Lessons for next time:

Take provisions - having at least one 'packed' meal would save a lot of money spent on food...perhaps even a travel kettle
The pillows are very thin - next time I'll take a travel pillow.
Next time I won't arrive at the terminal two hours early - there's little point getting there before the ferry starts to board.

    I’ve been looking tonight for holidays and have managed to find a couple i like. I really fancy a hotel with a spa and after going to the 5 star one in pennyhill park i know that my boyfriend would love it too. I plan to take my boyfriend abroad around the time of his birthday. I’ve looked at the prices and it’s round about �1000 for us half board for the kind of holiday i’m looking for. I’m really excited about going away. I’ve not been to a hot country in so long! It will be great to actually share some quality time with my boyfriend.
