make new real friends

an excellent Burlington brew pub. If I get a DUI on the way home, you’ll know the pints were enjoyed. :)

at about 5 in the afternoon yesterday and my neighbor waved me over. Jim’s in his early 50s and I don’t see him much, but I like him. He’s very friendly. He was drinking Chardonnay and he offered me a beer. I really wanted to refrain, but I have a hard time turning down beer. He brought out a ¾ liter Belgian-style ale. That was it! We tossed them back like college students. We really don’t have a lot in common and he is SO gay and I am SO not. But we live in similar style houses and so there’s a lot to talk about there. Long story short, we eventually stumbled (and I mean stumbled) down to his basement storage and because he saw me out in the park running he wanted to give me some of his exercise equipment he doesn’t use. Don’t know if I’ll ever use any of it, but it was a nice gesture. And we had a good time. He’s my kind of neighbor!

That’s his way of hinting that he wants to go out for some brews.

Gotta love it!

I don’t get a chance to socialize too much outside of work, but this weekend I will be going out tonight and tomorrow night.

Meeting up with a UPS pilot for a beer tonight. We’ve been talking about doing this for a while and will finally go. He moved up to this area almost a year ago and I don’t think he has many friends up here. He’s a little reserved, but he’s a nice guy. I’m thinking he has a different side outside of work. We’re hitting Moe’s, a Tex-Mex place.

Going into town with my neighbor tomorrow night. He is a beer connoisseur (Belgian-style, in particular). Not only that, but he has a sky-high IQ and is a wealth of knowledge. I do more listening than talking. It’ll be fun.

I met few more people during my last trip. Some of them really nice and interesting people. I hope to have more contact with them, not only one time encounter.
