Hear someone speak with a Scottish accent in person.

All different variations of the accent as well.

I was served at a restaurant by a person named Garreth who happened to be from a town not too far from Glasgow. We asked him how he got to our part of the world, and he said he was here on soccer scholarship. Now Scottish accents are my favorite foreign accent.

I kept on thinking the whole time, I wanted him to pronounce different words that had been discussed over here, though.

I had to ask him what his favorite “football” team was over in Scotland (I was hoping he’d say the Hibs), but he said something about St. Johnston’s or St. Johnson’s (I may have heard him incorrectly). He said they weren’t very good and a small-time team, but they were his favorite team anyway. I get the feeling that people from Scotland aren’t fairweathered fans.
