BTW I ran the rock n roll marathon a week before the mud run. I would definitely plan accordingly next year and space out races at least two weeks from each other. Ouch!!!
Well I finally did it with the help of Team Halo Halo. We had a lot of injuries and some last minute substitutions but we all enjoyed the experience. This is our second mud run. The first one was the San Diego mud run in March. The River Crossing was my favorite..very relaxing. Till next year. Here is a link for our mud run finish video:
I had the opportunity to participate in this year’s Mud Run held at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base with several of my coworkers. It was an awesome experience and helped me realize the depth of my determination and commitment. I am definitely going to sign up again for next year’s competition.
Tips for preparing: Build strength and endurance running uphill. The first 3 miles of the course is mainly uphill.
I had so much fun. I was the best racing event I’ve been to. The obstacle course and refreshing lake swim really make a difference.
My Advice to New Comers:- Take a small antibactial lotion to use after the porta potties
- I saw some people had body lotion and shampoo to use in the group showers that were available. That would have been very nice to have cuz the mud water is icky.
- Take a bag of clothes to change into and if you are modest a large towel to cover up so you have more privacy in the group large women/men chaning tent.
- Practice climbing over climbing walls so that you can jump over the fence on your own. My husband helped me with that. I was able to do the rest of the event just fine on my own.
- Do it in a group. Its a lot of fun with the right supportive crowd
- Register early and come dressed with spirit. We saw a lot of people with catchy group names like Mud Divas etc.
- Do it. Its fun.
It was hilly but beautiful. I loved the first big downhill and crossing the lake.
Running 6 miles at a time now! Whoo hoo! Extra bonus… lost 10 lbs! I should have done this sooooo long ago.
Well I signed up for the Camp Pendleton run on Sunday, June 9. It’s official. I am joining as a team. This is all our first time so we don’t know what to expect. I started running begining of year to get into shape. Lost a little over 20 pounds so far and logged in over 130 miles with nike + ipod tracker.
I run a 5k 4-5 times a week consistently now, although slowly…still in low 34 minutes. Signed up for San Diego Mud Run on March 24th as a primer for the Camp Pendleton run. The March run is a 5k. My first official race…kinda nervous…dragged along family and friends to form a team. I will let you know how I do…....good luck to everyone else:)
