Personally, I find this to be a difficult goal to accomplish because I own a dog, and the moment I wake up, I have to go out and walk him (he’s not the waiting kind). By the time I get back, I’ve already got things on my mind, and I go to have breakfast while I plan my day. The ‘diary-writing’ mood is all but lost. Also, if I made myself sit down and write something, it would not be particularly fascinating, as it might be if I was to do it right after waking up.
So, I’ve decided to not limit these ‘morning pages’ to just mornings, but any time that I am able to write, and I’m going to apply it to my ‘write a novel’ goal.
My diary’s been untouched for years, so it would be nice to do something like this.
I hope I continue. In fact I am quite enjoying doing them this time. Now for the artist dates.
I’ve done this before for blocks of a few months at a time. I’ve found it really clears your head and takes out the mental trash. After, when I sit down to write, the wheels are greased and it’s not so hard to begin. Plus, you quickly discover things that are bugging you, what’s working or not working in your life and things that you’re spinning your wheels on. This can help you set new goals and get it together. Good for the writing, good for your life. A+! (Gosh, I feel so motivated!!!)
lack of time. maybe I could do them at noon. or get up earlier.. but brain is too fuzzy in the morning
