How I did it: I first found out about capoeira through reading a comic book. For the next few years, I found out more and more about it, missing the opportunity to participate in college. Eventually, I decided to get some more exercise into my life and found some capoeira instructors in Boston. I found one in particular I liked and get more excited about it every day.
Lessons & tips: Talk to or take classes with as many instructors as you can before giving up!

I will not have the time or money to get back into Isshinryu any time soon. Between working 40 hours a week, and going to night school 3 days a week, I just don’t see it happening. However, I will continue to get in shape to make my eventual return to training much much easier.
They have an Irish Flag Heavy Bag on KarateDepot.com, if I get one for the house that would be the one I’d get. It’s on sale for 99.95, but I’m sure the shipping is a bitch. Likewise, Where to Put it? Basement or Garage would be the only two safe places for it.
well I recently decided to give church a try a couple of months ago and whilst there i met a man who happens to be an expert in judo. He taught me a couple of throws one of which he threw me right across the church hall as people were standing around drinking tea. Oh boi did they laff it was too funny and no one was expecting it then bam there i go. He is taking me to a friend of his judo class soon. I am on the right track
i used to train quite a lot and i cannot remember why i stopped. Probably just drifted away from it. Id love to go back and continue learning.
We’re all lazy fucks then aren’t we?
I hung up my heavy bag. I’ve been workin’ it. My knuckles are bashed to shit(callouses are gone). Well, it feels good to land a solid roundhouse kick anyways(without the pain of actually hitting someone with it).
I stopped Tae Kwon Do about two years ago due to flat feet and time crunch…but I really miss martial arts lately. They were a lot of fun and really helped to keep me in shape, as well as instilling some discipline in my busy life. I feel a need for that now and I might try to return.

I have just got back into Martial Arts after a number of years away. My fitness level is at zero but I am determined to pick it up again. It took me awhile to get the style I wanted and finally found it. It’s been two weeks and couldn’t have come at a better time in my life.
You all are slackin’...last post was made 9 months ago? C’mon now.
I went back last night after being out of martial arts for around 7 months. Surprisingly…if not, amazingly my skills have improved. 7 months of sittin’ on my butt and I’m better. How? It’s all in the mind. My body awareness and ability to observe the body mechanics of someone else was better, as well as my performance.
I tried a brand new school and I’m not even sure what style I was learning, but it wasn’t intense enough for me. I’ve gotten a taste of it now I HAVE to get back into training…
i took 2 years of kung fu and found it was not perfect for me…or at least the school i attended wasn’t because the grandmaster had major ego problems among other things. i would love to start a new martial art but cannot decide which one to take up. any suggestions?
