Habaneros are really very tasty, and the heat can be tempered with oil and carrots.
I do enjoy really hot spicy food though, so I use them regularly now. Here’s my famous HOT salsa recipe:
1 pint grape tomatoes
2 orange habanero chiles
4-5 green serrano chiles
1/2 medium onion
juice of 1/2 lemon
juice of 1/2 lime
salt & pepper to taste
Seed the chiles & mince them really finely. Cut the tomatoes into quarters or eighths. Chop the onion into 1/4” pieces.
Mix in a resealable bowl, add the lemon and lime juice, and salt & pepper. You’ll probably need more salt and pepper than you think.
Put the lid on the bowl and shake it a bit. Stick it in the fridge for ~4 hours (or more). Taste it, and adjust the salt & pepper if necessary.
Serve!
