    quitting coffee 2 years ago

I just quit cold turkey, for a few days I was irritable and tired but now I feel so much better. If you want a coffee substitute without the caffeine and all the acids try Postum. Since I quit drinking coffee I sleep better, have less stomach problems, less staining on my teeth and am less jittery. Anyone trying this stick in there it is so worth it. This is coming from someone who practically only drank coffee for over 10 years :)

to be honest, I am drinking coffee right now, but I only drink 2 cups in the morning, and that is it.
I used to drink coffee all day at work, and always was on a caffeine high or crash, so no more. Just a couple cups to make me bearable in the morning.

The caffeine was doing strange things to me emotionally and my mind would start racing so fast from the coffee I would feel out of control and unable to keep up with the racing of my life. I met a few other people with similar reactions. It’s a very strong substance. Now I drink lots of green and herbal tea (rooibos too) and just found out about white tea and it has even more antioxidants than green.

i completely quit 3 years ago

so i did it. cold turkey. not the smartest way, given that i live in the coffee mecca of the world and here comes the cloudy, rainy winters where a cup of warm coffee is the greatest companion all day long you could ever ask for. but it was just the way i needed to do it for myself. i’m glad i did. i’ve never slept so well and my teeth are whiter. i think the coffee made them brown. the withdrawl headaches SUCKED and i have a whole new sympathy for people who are trying to quit heroine. that’s gotta be a whole lot harder. and if it’s anything as difficult or painful than quitting caffeine, all my sympathies to them!

I want to cut my coffee intake down to just 1 (large) mug per day in the morning. Eventually I want to cut it out entirely but it is just so damn good tasting and I’ve been drinking it daily since grade 9 and fresh brewed Starbucks coffee is just sooooo great. Yeah. This will be a hard addiction to break.

After this little victory – I’m thinking of going to full purge...

But not yet. The coffee we grind at work is so good – does anyone have and good tasting coffee substitutes?
