I have read about Freecycle groups that people have been using to get rid of various things they no longer need, and I finally found the appropriate links to join the one in my area.
Gosh we have a lot of stuff we don’t need, but it’s kind of old. First item to put on there is my electric typewriter which I had in college. Not really sure if anyone will want it, but this is certainly the place to try!
Update (one day later): Oh my gosh, within three hours of placing my offer on the South JeffcoFreecycle, I had three responses who wanted the typewriter. I am just about speechless (so is my Darling Husband who made lots of rude remarks about it when I got the typewriter out and dusted it off!). It should be picked up this evening! 5 years ago
Took a large bag of aluminum cans to the grocery store for recycling this morning. Didn’t get much in the way of payment for them, but that’s okay. The point is that the aluminum is being recycled and staying out of a landfill. 5 years ago
I finally purchased a very nice reusable grocery bag. Today I wasn’t buying many groceries, so the one bag was more than adequate. I plan to leave it in my car so when I shop by the store for “just one thing”, I won’t need to use the store’s bags.
Going to do my best to stop using paper and plastic bags. 5 years ago
Earlier in the week, I found out that Starbucks will give you ten cents off your drink if you bring your own cup. Good for them!
So this morning I found my old commuter coffee cup that I used to use when I rode the bus to work, washed it up and took it to my Starbucks.
I had been feeling bad about all the cups I’m using from Starbucks, and I’m glad to be able to do this one small thing to help eliminate waste! 6 years ago
