Podcasting is Easy 1 month ago

Podcasting is easy. I’ve done it before. I had a fairly successful (albeit short-lived) podcast around this time last year, and the experience was a ton of fun. But it ended, I moved on, and I didn’t start another one up (or contribute to any other podcast, either).

As with most things, the biggest hurdle was simply a lack of motivation. What should the podcast be about? Do I have enough authority on any subject to create an entire show based around it? What if people don’t like it? What if…?

And it carries on.

But most of these concerns – most of these What If’s – can be shot down with another hypothetical question: What if all those “What If’s” are wrong?

I’m trying to keep that last bit of self-advice in my head, trying to use it as a shield against doubting myself in general.

Perhaps others could get some use of it it, too? In a twisted sort of double-negative way, it’s about doubting yourself to the point of doubting your own doubts.

my podcasting idol: Stephen Fry 13 months ago

I discovered his “podgrams” on iTunes. They are so funny, so literate, so casual, yet beautifully produced.

downloading lots of podcasts these days... 13 months ago

thanks to the wonderful iPod my family gave me.

The question is: what is the story I want to tell?

What is the story only I can tell.

I’m so in awe of Stephen Fry’s new “podgrams” which are long, expansive visits to his wonderful mind…his rhapsocy on Oscar Wilde was amazing. I’d like to tell stories about my dog. Faith’s latest feat was falling in love with a little calf at a petting zoo.

Time to put more moxie into this.

Well, finally... 20 months ago

My first podcast is up! It’s a current affairs and politics show called The Secret Frequency. Let me know what you think!

(And yes, we’re fixing the link colors so they stand out better. Give us a day or so.)

Edited to fix link. Give it a try now!

Severe technical probs 20 months ago

Did one yesterday but erased it; we had some severe problems getting Skype, Audacity, and my Blue Snowball mic to work together properly. Result was not usable. I’ll likely go without Skype (and therefore without call-ins) for the near future, but I really could use some technical advice from those what’s done it. If you can help, please comment or email…
