How to get my taxes done"I got back enough money for a down payment on a car!"
How I did it: Well, first I couldn't track down my W-2's, I hadn't done my taxes in three years. So I called the IRS, and you have to print out a form from www.irs.gov, and they'll send you copies of all the W-2's they have on file (When an employer files taxes, they send copies of your W-2's to the IRS). Then, when I got them in, my wonderful Beau sat down with me and helped me fill everything out, and file. Viola! Lessons & tips: Set aside some time and CALL THE IRS. It takes forever to get to a person, but they're actually very helpful. |

How I did it: Locked myself in a room for a day and just did it! Worth it too, since I got a return back for both years! I even included a "sorry" note to CCRA saying that I really didn't mean to get two years behind.. lol. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I used TaxAct.com for the second year in a row. My husband and I qualify for free federal filing. Just go to the IRS website and select an online preparer. Read how I did it…

1. Wil needs to call and find out if we can claim Paige.
2. Need to make sure have all paperwork together.
3.Go online through IRS website and choose a free site to file. Maybe bring last years taxes in case I get stuck.
This is a goal that, unfortunately, because the Federal Government cheated it’s way into taking our income illegally I must complete.
I have a lot to do for this goal, but the weight off my shoulders will make this a worthy goal to accomplish.

Though I am kind of upset that for capital gains you get smacked tiwce.. federal and state. So it’s not really 15%.. it’s 30%. That SUCKS.
Anyway, we still have $$ left over from hubby’s bonus.. the check I had to write to the IRS wasn’t as large as we had calculated.
And we’re getting a refund from NY State! Wheee!

or rather, I do. I forgot to bring my son’s SS# and his day care TIN, and I also forgot to calculate the cost basis for some stock I sold.
So we have to come back Thursday night.
Totally, totally my fault.

This only involves 2 steps:
1. Finding the documents
2. mailing them to the accountant.
Not too hard, but I don’t want to forget to do it.

I didn’t know what to expect as I gathered all of my documents and stepped in for my appointment…I had planned ahead a bit with my deductions and such but had no idea of the pain as we did the short form, long form and everything in between…It pays to have help doing this…trust me on this one folks…
I am single now and the tax laws do not favor single breadwinners who work and make money as compensation…for if you make enough money to live…you make enough to give to our government, and it was a bit more than I would like to fork over…
This year my amount owed to the IRS amounts to what a nice vacation would cost…don’t get me wrong here…being single is worth it…just a bit more expensive than I had imagined during the visualisation of being on my own…when I write this check and send it in around the first of April…a tear may roll down my cheek and into my can of Pork and beans that I will have to subsist on to make up for this cruel highway robbery that has occured to my bank account…Yes, pork and beans along with Ramen noodle for months and months to make up for this deficit that my leaders will squander on smoked salmon buffets, studies on what happens when your library books are overdue and why shaving can cause excitement among partners…
I’m holding up my end of the bargain here…and of course we projected next year based on my earnings and deductions I will have…I’ll be fine next year…I don’t have enough deductions this year to save me…
