I’ll finally be able to start doing this in the summer of 2010.
I wasn’t able to before because unless you were 18 you needed a parent to be with you.
My parents didn’t really have time for that.
I’m so excited to finally help out.
Even if I do have to wait a bit.

Did not end up going to the introduction day as I thought I might do on the weekend – time seems to fly -
This weekend I am helping out organizing an 18th , Sunday means work and next weekend I drive up north to do more work on the house…..
I think a milestone will be three weekends from now – getting into the Animal shelter for at least a day! = )

I received and e-mail yesterday inviting me to an open information session at the shelter, where I sent my details letting them know that I wanted to volunteer, I mean it’s not as if I have won a prized competition or anything but it kinda did feel like that when I was reading the invite to the open days!! – I just hope I do not get bitten by any of the pets in the shelter… lol

So I started looking around Sydney for all the animal shelters around, I mean I thought there would just a few but as it turns out there are literally hundreds! – I have only ever known of one, anyways so this particular one really caught my attention since they have a NO-kill policy and they mean it!, I guess there are many way s to volunteer, or provide help, like dropping off tins of food and providing dry food – but dogs need to walk too!, I really do not think that if I was a dog I would like to be in a cage all day…....
Anyways so one can volunteer for heaps of odd jobs, I just hope that my free time will coincide with the times they need people to help…... either way its a start..

This is something that has slipped out of my mind – I once had to take a dog we found on the side of the road to an animal shelter – The vet said it had been living on road kill for months and months and had almost become wild since it had to fend for himself and fighting off dingos that roam around the area, luckily for him he was half dingo (he was Kelpy),its health would take years to recover and even that was a really slim chance; we did not have a place to keep him in my apartment so we kept him in my aunts place with a big back yard but he did not get along with people anymore – so finally we decided to take him to the animal shelter – so I vowed to volunteer there at some point. Must be done.

I have absolutly no free time. I volunteer helping people and wanted to volunteer for animals because of their unconditional love. Unfortanely I’m too committed right now in other areas. Someday I’ll be able to do this…just not right now

I put in an interest letter to the local cat shelter and I might be starting as early as next week!
I actually am starting to work with a local beagle rescue that I got my dog from!! I volunteer at events when I can and am also donating a full website that I will do updates to as well, and they could not be happier about it, and I am definitely stoked!!
It was hard work but I really liked doing it! I even have a cat from the animal shelter now. At first he was very skinny but now he’s getting fat XD
