I want to understand more about where my parents and family is from.
I’d like to research the roots of the Clarke’s back to England and visit my mother’s birthplace, Casole Bruzio, Calabria, Italy.

My mom finally sent the book about our ancestors. It arrived the other day. It’s pretty boring, to be honest. (It didn’t help that I was trying to read it while sitting in the bleachers of a high school basketball game, with a friend I hadn’t seen in months.) And I’m not sure how much is true. I mean, there are quotes in the book. Was someone standing there 200 years ago with a tape recorder? I doubt it. I think the author may have added some “color” to the true story.
Still waiting on the articles from my grandfather. Those should be good.
Where is that book?!

My mother swore she’d mail me “The Fugitive of the Pearl.” That was like two weeks ago. I hope it’s not trapped in postal purgatory!

One of my ancestors wrote a book about a slave rebellion called “The Fugitive of the Pearl.” Supposedly, it’s about our family. My mother is sending me the book, and my grandfather is sending a bunch of articles related to the ship. I’m on my way!
